This section briefly explains how to use Releases in Quillry.
To do this, we need to understand some key concepts.
Prerequisites
Creating a Release requires that you have created at least one Story.
If you haven't created any stories yet, learn how to do that here.
About Releases
A release is a plan for a book launch.
Releases are locked to a Story.
All Stories you create receive a default Release to get you started.
A Story can have many releases. You are not limited to one.
For example, you could create a release for your story, but create a second release for a limited or special edition,
or even an updated version.
Releases cannot be set to public. They are private to you.
Releases contain a series of phases which ultimately define the structure.
Each Phase of a release is for a different stage of the release cycle. Each Release gets a default phase of Drafting.
Each Phase has a start date and expected end date to track the lifecycle of that stage.
Each Release can have multiple phases. You are not limited to one.
For example, you could create a phase for drafting your story, a separate phase for editing, another for alpha/beta/critique partners, and more for launch prep and promotions.
Phases contain a series of tasks which ultimately define the structure.
Each Task in a phase has a start date and expected end date to track the lifecycle of that task as well as status.
Tasks have a default values of To Do, Doing, Done. You can edit, delete, or add custom statuses in your Settings.
Each Phase can have multiple Tasks. You are not limited to one.
Creating A Release from the Story Details Page
Navigate to the story you want to add a release to. Find the Releases tab. Click on the button with the text Add New Release.
Clicking Add New Release will redirect you to the New Release Page.
Since you came from a particular story, that story should already be selected as the story you want to add a release to.
Fill out the fields and click Save. You will be redirected to the Release Page where you can begin to add custom Phases.
Creating A Release from the My Release Tasks
From the side panel navigation, scroll down and find My Releases.
Click that and you will navigate to the story you want to add a release to your overall Release Tasks page.
Click the New button above the grid of tasks and you will be presented with three options: Release, Phase, or Task.
Select Release from the New button dropdown options.
Since you did not originate from a particular story, you need to select a story you want to associate this release to. If you have no stories, you will be
redirected to the Create Story Page.
Fill out the fields and click Save. You will be redirected to the Release Page where you can begin to add custom Phases.
